Many artists find it tempting to try to make music they believe will please the masses, but there are reasons you should create the music you're inclined to make.

Artistic expression in its truest form should allow an individual or collective to communicate the way they see the world. If you believe music is a part of you and you are meant to contribute to it, it's important you recognize that your perspective is unique and impacts its entire landscape. With "copy and paste" sounds flooding the internet and airwaves, it can be tempting to emulate the track du jour for your shot at fame but if you want your music career to be significant you have to add your own interpretation to the mix.

It's been said before that if you make music for everybody, you're not making music for anybody. That's because when you approach music scientifically as opposed to the artistic expression it is meant to be, it doesn't resonate with people long term the way that it should. Formulaic pop songs get a lot of attention in the moment, but instead of making a lasting impression their time in the spotlight and memories of temporary fans is fleeting.

If you think about some of the songs or artists that have stood the test of time for you, you'll notice that there was something different about them. An authenticity that connected you to them for one reason or another. Sometimes this may even include the songs and artists you may love to hate. When music elicits feelings from you, it leaves a lasting impression. Making the music you want to make allows your authenticity shine and connect with others.

There will always be people with opinions on how you should do things, but if you make the music you're meant to make you will find your people. They will appreciate you & the way you deliver your artistry..
