Lansing, Michigan – Common Ground presents Nelly at Cooley Law School Stadium on Saturday, July 11th.

Diamond Selling, Multi-platinum, Grammy award-winning rap superstar, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and actor, Nelly, has continually raised the bar for the entertainment industry since stepping on the scene in 2000 with his distinctive vocals and larger-than-life personality. He entered the spotlight with the release of Country Grammar in 2000, spending seven weeks at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and spawning the massive hits “Ride Wit Me”, “Country Grammar”, and “E.I.”. The album landed him four Grammy Award nominations and sold over nine million copies worldwide.

Nelly kept the momentum going with the 2002 release of Nellyville. The album debuted at #1 on top of scoring Nelly his first two Grammy Awards for “Hot in Here” and “Dilemma” [feat. Kelly Rowland]. This album was highly successful and was certified 6x multi-platinum by the RIAA on June 27, 2003. He has since gone on to win multiple American Music Awards, a Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award, Soul Train Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, and was crowned “Top Pop, Rap, and R&B/Hip-Hop Artist of The Year” by Billboard. He has been referred to by Peter Shapiro as "one of the biggest stars of the new millennium", and the RIAA ranks Nelly as the fourth best-selling rap artist in American music history, with over 21 million albums sold in the United States. On December 11, 2009, Billboard ranked Nelly the number three Top Artist of the Decade.

Saturday’s lineup is stacked with legendary hip-hop from the last four decades with Baby Bash, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Juvenile.

As a prevailing force in modern hip-hop, Baby Bash blazes a singular path. His extensive string of top charting hits that include “Suga Suga”, “Baby, I’m Back”, and “Cyclone (ft. T-Pain)”, cross genre collaborations, striking videos and relentless touring -- coupled with a crowd-pleasing charisma and bound less personality -- illuminates an indelible artist, producer and songwriter.

Back by popular demand, DJ Jazzy Jeff is returning to Lansing after a memorable set at the 2018 Common Ground Music Festival. From the success of “DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince” with partner Will Smith, to the critical acclaim of his production company “A Touch of Jazz”, Jeff proved time and time again that he would always be a force to be reckoned with. Over the course of his career, DJ Jazzy Jeff has achieved many accomplishments including a DMC Championship and multiple GRAMMY and American Music Awards and nominations.

New Orleans-based gangsta rapper Juvenile is recognized as hip hop royalty, and one of the pioneers of hip-hop music in the South with hits like “Back That Azz Up” and “Slow Motion”.

“Common Ground is presenting a series of shows at Cooley Law School Stadium in 2020. We have no events currently scheduled for Adado Riverfront Park this year” says Jenna Meyer, Partner and Marketing Director for MiEntertainment Group.  “We are excited for this new chapter of Common Ground as we shift towards a season-long entertainment series in the Stadium. This is the next step in that transition!”

Tickets for July 11th go on-sale to the public on Thursday, March 12th at 11:00 AM. Tickets can be purchased online at www.commongroundfest.com.
