Hey, thank you so much for tuning in to Instrumental Intel. I'm your host, music producer, Achickwitbeatz, and I'm glad that you've joined me. Today's episode has music industry news and instrumentals by me for your inspiration. Because you know what? AChick has to look out for her mental health too. So pretty much a light episode with tons of information, but enough to keep you going. All right, before I go ahead and drop that first beat, I gotta give a shout out to my home station, Grand Radio out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. And with that,

Let's go!

Hey, I'm Achickwitbeatz, multi-genre music producer and strategist to indie artists and labels. Visit achickwitbeatz.com for resources for artists and instrumentals in various genres available for songs, vlogs, blogs, podcasts, themes, TV, film, commercials, and more. Once again, that's achickwitbeatz.com. That's A-C-H-I-C-K-W-I-T-B-E-A-T-Z.com. Let's make something happen.

Hey, I'm music producer Achickwitbeatz back with the Music Biz Brief. BMI is acquiring the cue sheet management platform Soundmouse from music tech company Orpheum to build what it calls the industry's largest global cue sheet database. Cue sheets help track music used across film, television, commercials, and video games, so songwriters, composers, and publishers can collect performance royalties. The deal is expected to close mid-2026.
30:36
AudioShake is branching out from AI stem separation to offer its Copyright Compliance System to TV and film studios, broadcasters, and video publishers with catalogs blocked from release because they contain licensed music. It automatically detects, identifies, removes, and documents copyrighted music within mixed media and is already being used by ESPN, NFL Films, Music Reports, and more. Live Nation is continuing to fight its recent U.S. monopoly verdict,
31:05
filing motions to either overturn the ruling or get a new trial after a jury found the company operated as an illegal monopoly and overcharged fans. Meanwhile, UK lawmakers are calling for a new competition investigation into the live music sector over concerns about Live Nation and Ticketmaster's influence across promotion, venues, and ticketing. Music marketing platform Un:hurd Music launched a new service called Contxt, that's with no E.
31:31
Described as a tech-enabled marketing agency designed for labels and management teams, it aims to combine campaign support with real-time performance tracking to help teams better understand fan engagement and marketing results. Launch partners include artists like [Tinie Tempah], Imogen Heap, along with companies Believe and Three Six Zero. Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment are asking a federal court to expand their copyright lawsuit against AI music platform Suno by adding more than 61,000 recordings to the case.
32:02
The labels say Discovery revealed Suno trained its AI models on millions of copyrighted songs without authorization, with the newly identified recordings uncovered through audio fingerprinting technology. Suno is opposing the request, while the labels argue that the company failed to be transparent about the music it used and its training data. Universal Music Group and TikTok renewed their licensing agreement with new AI protections to remove unauthorized AI-generated music and improve artist and songwriter attribution on the platform.
32:30
The companies say the updated deal is designed to better protect human artistry as the music industry navigates the increase of AI-generated content. YouTube will automatically label realistic AI-generated videos, including music videos, even when creators don't disclose it themselves. The update aims to improve transparency while the music industry faces growing concerns around deep fakes, fake artist impersonations, and, of course, again, the increase of AI-generated content across streaming and social platforms.
32:59
Anthem Vinyl, Ireland's only vinyl pressing plant, is launching a digital distribution service called Anthem Digital. It will offer delivery, support, marketing, royalty reporting and collection, and more. LastFM is independent again after being acquired by CBS 19 years ago. It had 15 million users when it was purchased for $280 million back in May of 2007. The company says it can now, quote unquote, focus fully on building listening insights and community features for music fans.
33:29
and promises the users will see continued steady improvements over time. Alright, that's a wrap for the Music Biz Brief. Stick around, we're gonna get back to the beats, and then I'll be back to close out the episode. Keep it locked!
