Birthdays

1917- Lena Horne, Singer

The Jazz Sessions spotlights Andrew Hill, a great and even groundbreaking composer and pianist. While many of his contemporaries were totally jettisoning the rhythmic and harmonic techniques of bop and hard bop, Hill worked to extend their possibilities; his was a revolution from within.

Creole Love Call - Kathleen Battle with Barrie Lee Hall, Jr. (trumpet)

Two of the all time greats on the Old Grey Whistle Test tv show, with an amazing rendition of Stanley Clarke's School Days. I wish the album version (as good as it was) sounded as great as this.
